LAURENCE LLEWELYN-BOWEN

As recommended from "S" Magazine in the Sunday ExpressI am hoping to let my spare room, but it's in urgent need of a makeover.

Where do you get cheap fabric you use on your programmes?Mira Patterson, Hastings

Lawrence says: A good starting point I always find is the "Curtain Factory Outlet (020 8492 0093)". Their stock changes constantly so it's worth keeping a regular eye on what they've got. The maximum you'll pay is £6.99 per m, which for sheer value is hard to beat.

"The treatment House Doctor has made Pascale's room far more cosy. Walls painted in Pavillion and English Fire by Crown Paints set the scene, while curtains in Flora Tapestry made by The Curtain Factory Outlet, the Pasha blind and curtain pole by Swish, all for an impressive window dressing.

Oak Layer flooring from Wickes looks stylish and a bargain cabinet hides the TV.

Fabric Heaven
- Ever in the pursuit af a bargain, I have recently discovered the Curtain Factory Outlet in North Finchley. What you will not find is carpeted reception areas or a fancy showroom. What you will find is a warehouse with more 500.000m of top designer fabrics, at a maximum of £6.99 a metre, regardless of what their retail prices were.

DRAW FROM A WORLD OF CHOICE AT THE CURTAIN OUTLET
As witten in the Hendon Times Thursday the 21st of september 2006.

Whether you are completely redesigning your home or just updating the look of a room, choosing the right fabric for your curtains or upholstery can bring the whole room together. But it can also be expensive with designer fabrics costing upwards of £30 per metre and some- times much more.

But The Curtain Factory, in North Finchley, believes that high quality fabrics needn't cost the earth. The company keeps prices low by buying rolls direct from the fabric printers. dyers and finishers before selling them to customers at a maximum price of £6.99 + VAT per metre. These remarkable prices include top designer names such as Sanderson. Designers Guild and Malabar, and are offered both on a wholesale and retail basis.

The Curtain Factory has more than 30 years experience as fabric wholesalers and exporters, which means it can always get the best deals to keep prices consistently low.

The business, which is spread across five showrooms at their Ballards Lane site, offers every imaginable colour, style and type of fabric at incredibly competitive prices. It keeps its profit margins as small as possible, passing the savings on to customer, and offers a constantly changing range of fabrics, with over 500,000 meters in stock at any one time.

As well as the two-storey trade warehouse, there is a showroom specialising in cream and natural coloured fabrics and a separate real showroom with hundreds of pattern books.

Then, to make sure you have everything you need. it also stocks a great choice of accessories including curtain poles, rails, hooks and tiebacks to help you complete the look.

If you prefer to have someone else do all the hard work, then The Curtain Factory's interior design team can help take the strain and offer some creative inspiration.

The Curtain Factory also has an on site 'making and measuring service so you can have your chosen fabrics made up in the style of your choice. Alternatively, you can choose from the huge selection of ready made curtains available from their specialist showroom.

The Curtain Factory's no-nonsense, great value approach has found favour with many professional interior designers and it regularly appears in ITV's 60 Minute Makeover series as a supplier.

It has a great international reputation as well, with regular enquiries from all over the world. It exports fabric to Slovakia, Italy, Ghana, Romania, Nigeria and Uganda while their visitors book shows visitors from Norway and Germany as well as from cities all around the UK.

But for the residents of Finchley, The Curtain Factory is right on their doorstep, making it easy to pop in and compare prices. If you want to work out how a fabric would look in your home, you can take away a free cutting, but it's best not to take too long deciding which one you want, as there is only a limited amount of each fabric available - and once it's gone, it's gone. Visit www.curtainfactoryoutle.co.uk for more information.

The Curtain Factory is open from Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm, and on Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
